Comfort in the Word

2 Tim 4:3-5

"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry."

As one who has taken his first steps into an adult life of vocational ministry this semester, these words are extremely comforting to me. So often, discouragement, disappointment and disillusionment crowd out the Truth that the Lord has so graciously put in His Word for us in the difficult times.

The truth that I keep running back to is this: we are called to be obedient. The results are in the Lord's hands. Worrying about the results is a moot point...all we are responsible for is the act of obedience and submission.

Praise the Lord for His endless patience and kindness to me. I'm pretty good at screwing things up, but He keeps teaching and guiding me down this path. Praise Him!!
